Dangerous Driving case at Aberdeen Sheriff Court. Following a multiple vehicle crash the client was charged with Dangerous Driving and faced a lengthy period of disqualification. Following our investigations the Crown accepted that the client was not solely responsible for the car crash and accepted his plea of guilty to the lesser charge of Careless Driving. 5 points and a fine were imposed and the client kept his licence.

Dangerous Driving offence at Stranraer Sheriff Court. The client was charged with dangerous driving by losing control while driving at speeds in excess 70mph in a residential area. Having heard evidence over two days the Sheriff acquitted the client and found him not guilty.

Dangerous Driving at Lanark Sheriff Court. Driving on M74 at a speed over 100mph, while overtaking and in adverse weather conditions the client had been charged by the police with Dangerous Driving. We were able to prove, amongst other things, that the weather wasn’t quite as bad as the police had suggested. He pled guilty to the lesser offence of Careless Driving. The Sheriff imposed a fine and penalty points. He therefore avoided disqualification and an order to re-sit his test.

Dangerous Driving at Forfar Sheriff Court. The client was charged with dangerous driving by driving at an excessive speed on the A90 while overtaking other vehicles. He was facing a mandatory 1 year ban and a re-sit order. We were able to persuade the Crown to accept a lower speed and reduce the charge to Carless Driving. The client instructed us to tender a plea to the lesser charge of Careless Driving. He had 9 live points and was now facing disqualification under totting-up provisions for a period of no less than 6 months which he could not afford. The Court granted our request for a short-term ban of 3 months.

Dangerous Driving at Lanark Sheriff Court. The client was originally charged with Dangerous Driving by driving at a speed of 130mph on M74. Due to evidential issues about the accuracy of the speed measuring device used by the police Dominic Sellar was able to persuade the prosecution to accept a plea to the lesser charge of Careless Driving and a much reduced speed. Following further representations the Court imposed a fine and 8 penalty points.

Dangerous Driving on M8 at Hamilton Sheriff Court. The client was charged with dangerous driving at speed of 109mph on a 50mph section of the M8. Not only was he facing lengthy disqualification, but also imprisonment. Having identified a number of problems with the case a plea of guilty was tendered to a charge of speeding at a much reduced speed.
